Laurel City Council President H. Edward Ricks and the Laurel City Council are holding a town hall meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 6pm- 8pm at the Laurel Municipal Center located at 8103 Sandy Spring Road in Laurel, MD. The sole purpose is to provide new details on a proposal to shut down the train stop on Main Street. They also want to hear what the public has to say about the plan.

The MD Dept of Transportation (MDOT) is considering halting the use of the Train Stop because developers in Howard County want to put a train stop there.
*HISTORY*
Built in 1884, the Laurel Train Station has thrived for over 131 years and many Laurel residents, along with non- residents, that ride the MARC train to work daily, it is one of the most used train stops on the Camden Line.
With the threat if the stop closing, the Council President has started a grassroots campaign to block the closing of the Laurel Train Stop. The Laurel City Council plans on having one of these Town Hall meetings on the third Thursday of every month for the remaining year to keep the public informed of how the campaign is going.
